As the successful prime contractor for the Air 87 Armed Reconnaissance Helicopter Project with the Tiger ARH, Eurocopter-owned Australian Aerospace has put in place a strong project management team. It is made up of European experts, Australian industry specialists and former ADF personnel, and is now fully operational. Fully-experienced with DMO management techniques, it is daily demonstrating its ability and capacity to manage a project of the size and complexity of Air 87.
Through its establishment of an effective engineering management structure, and with the full backing of parent Eurocopter, Australian Aerospace has achieved the formal station of Approved Engineering Organisation for the Tiger ARH.
In the fields of production and maintenance, a new hangar facility at Brisbane Airport has been settled on to host Tiger assembly from April 2003. The extensive floor space also accommodates other maintenance and production activities, notably the local assembly for regional and Asian markets of the five-seat EC 120 light civil helicopter.
Australian Aerospace is well-placed to consolidate its position as a major partner of the Australian Department of Defence for all aspects of helicopter system management.
